The Woman Behind the Lens

Soft light, honest moments, and photographs that age gracefully.

Maren, the photographer, smiling with her camera on a wooden porch

Hello, I’m Maren

Photographer, hopeless romantic, light-chaser

I founded Tidewrack Photo Atelier ten years ago with one borrowed camera and a stubborn belief: the best photographs are borrowed, never taken.

Since then I have photographed more than three hundred weddings, countless growing families, and a wall of graduates, founders and artists. My style is quiet and unhurried — I pose only enough to flatter, then step back and let the day happen.

When I am not shooting, I am printing in the studio, teaching seasonal workshops, or walking the valley with my dog looking for tomorrow’s light.

How I work

Three promises, every session

Unhurried

No rushing

Sessions run long on purpose. There is time for shy beginnings, snack breaks, wind, tears — all of it belongs in the pictures.

Honest

No stiff posing

Gentle direction, never contortion. You will look like yourselves on your very best day, not like someone else’s mood board.

Heirloom-minded

Made to last

Edited for longevity, delivered in full resolution, and printed on archival papers that outlive us both.

The studio

A calm room full of prints

Our little atelier sits above the old mill — all linen, oak and afternoon sun.

Come for your consultation and stay for tea: walls of finished albums, drawers of paper samples, and a viewing table where your own gallery will premiere a few weeks after the shoot.
